An interface that reflects how business cases are actually built
Business cases are rarely built in a straight line.
Assumptions change, numbers move, a benefit looks compelling until a risk is surfaced, or a cost lands differently once timing is factored in. Real decisions are made while modelling, not after everything is neatly filled in.
That reality shaped the new KangaROI Business Case UI.
Over the past month, this experience has been in the hands of a group of beta customers. Their feedback helped validate what was working, highlight what wasn’t, and refine how the UI supports real decision-making. Today, we’re rolling this update out to all production users.
This update isn’t about changing what KangaROI does. It’s about making sure the product reflects how business cases are actually built, explored, and defended in the real world.
Insight shouldn’t be hidden by navigation
This change came directly from customer feedback, as one of the most common frustrations we heard was the disconnect between doing the work and seeing its impact. Previously, key decision metrics like NPV, ROI, and Payback Period lived on the Executive Summary, which meant that you often had to move away from the work you were doing to understand its impact.
Now, those metrics sit in the header of every page.

Whether you’re entering a new cost, adjusting a benefit, refining a risk, or exploring a scenario, you can immediately see how that change affects the overall business case. The most important signals are always visible, keeping you oriented while you work through the detail.
This mirrors how people naturally sanity-check decisions, as you don’t wait until the end to ask “does this still stack up?”, you ask it constantly.
From delayed feedback to immediate understanding
Alongside visibility, interface-feedback speed mattered, so key metrics now recalculate dynamically based on what has changed.
That shift might sound small, but it fundamentally changes how the product feels to use. Cause and effect stay connected, meaning you can explore assumptions without breaking your flow or second-guessing whether you’re looking at the latest numbers.
The business case evolves as you think, not after you stop.
Speed that changes how people work
Under the hood, our data, formula, and calculation engines have been heavily optimised.
⏱️ Calculations now run 90 percent faster
🔄 Data-heavy pages load more quickly, and switching views feels instant
🎯 The overall experience feels noticeably more responsive
This isn’t just cosmetic, as speed directly affects behaviour. When the product responds instantly, people are more willing to test alternatives, stress-test assumptions, and explore scenarios instead of settling for the first answer.
Better performance leads to better decisions.
One consistent system
Consistency was another clear theme in customer feedback.
As KangaROI has evolved, powerful capabilities have been added across Costs, Benefits, Risks, Scenario Modelling, and Real ROI. Over time, that growth introduced subtle inconsistencies in how different areas looked and behaved.
This refresh brings everything back into a single, coherent system. Consistent structure and styling across your business cases reduce cognitive load and build trust. When you’re creating or proposing your business case, the last thing you want is uncertainty about how to interpret what you’re seeing.
Clarity supports confidence.
Laying the foundation for always-on kAI
This update to the Business Case view also enables KangaROI for what comes next.
Until now, kAI has primarily helped at the start of a business case, assisting with initial structure and setup. The new UI creates the framework for kAI to become something more continuous.
In our next iteration, kAI will be able to:
🧭 Offer guidance while you’re working, not just when you start
🔍 Highlight missing fields or weak assumptions
🪜 Suggest next steps
📐 Suggest industry-benchmarked values where it makes the most sense
This update creates the foundation for those capabilities to exist in a meaningful way, without changing how teams work today.
Built for real decisions
Our refreshed interface reflects a simple belief: business case tools should support decision-making as it happens, not just document outcomes after the fact.
By keeping insight visible, feedback immediate, and structure consistent, KangaROI now works the way business cases are actually built.
It’s live for all users today, and it’s only the beginning.
